Wednesday, February 4th saw a Santa Clarita man arrested in Newhall after attempting to run over a Santa Clarita Sheriff Station deputy with a car. According to reports, the incident took place at 8:45 a.m. at the 21000 block of Oak River Lane in Santa Clarita. Deputies were in the area investigating reports of a stolen Ford F150. The truck had been reported stolen at 830 by its owner in Stevenson Ranch who claimed that someone just “jumped in and drove it away.” Unfortunately for the suspect, the truck had a tracking device on it and was quickly located by police.

When deputies arrived in the area, they witnessed someone standing outside, speaking to the driver of the truck. Thinking the two were connected, deputies questioned the individual who was speaking with the driver after the truck drove off. During the discussion, the truck reappeared, barreling down a service road directly at the deputy and the witness. The deputy fired one shot from his gun, hitting the passenger window and forcing the driver to suddenly veer off and hit a retaining wall. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

After an extensive search, the suspect, Jesse Tucker of Santa Clarita, was discovered in a home on Vermont Drive in Newhall at 720 in the evening. After barricading himself in the home for 3-hours, Tucker was taken into custody at 1030 p.m. and is currently at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station awaiting bail.
