Recently, a report was made to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station detailing an alleged burglary and vandalism at the Pinetree Elementary School in Canyon Country.

The crime was reported by the custodian who discovered the break-in early in the morning when he arrived for work.

According to reports, security footage has recorded several suspects hopping a fence and breaking into several classrooms. Breaking in resulted in damage to the doors, locks and surrounding walls.

Once inside the classrooms, six ipads and a set of master keys were stolen. Luckily for the school, most of the damage was relatively minor and has already been repaired. Since the set of keys were stolen, all of the locks in the school have been changed. The total cost of the damage to the school has yet to be calculated, but insurance is in place to pay for the damages.

Class at Pinetree Elementary is still scheduled to resume August 14th and school officials are set on ensuring everything is back in working order before then.

Detectives investigating the case are actively searching for suspects and ask that anyone in the community who may have information to come forward. Santa Clarita Sheriff Investigators can be reached at 661-255-1121.
