Well folks, it’s just about time for St. Patrick’s Day, and there are few better places to celebrate than Los Angeles. While the holiday falls on the 17th, some of the festivities are going to kick off the weekend before. Here are a few:
- The annual Hollywood St. Patrick’s Day Festival and parade will be held on Sunday, March 15th on Hollywood Blvd. Ticket prices begin at $35 for general admission and go up to $65 for VIP admission. The festival and parade will include food, live music, contests and more! General admission tickets include access to the open bar for 3 hours, while VIP tickets grant access to the open bar all day!
- If you want something to do that’s actually on St. Patrick’s Day, why not head out to Casey’s St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival? It’s in downtown LA and will include Irish food, drinks, music and culture. The giant festival covers over two city blocks and boasts an annual attendance of over 20,000 people. The festival begins at 6 a.m. and continues until 2 a.m. the following morning. Additionally, admission is free.
- St. Patty’s Beer Fest at the Pig & Whistle will take place from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and does have an admissions fee. However, what you spend to get in the door you will indoubtedly save inside thanks to an incredible amount of happy hour style prices. With $2 pints of bud light, 2 well drinks for $6 and $4 pints of Guinness, what’s not to like?
St. Patrick’s Day is a time to celebrate Irish history, heritage and culture; and a lot of us choose to do that while consuming alcohol. If you decide to do so, remember to make sure you line up a safe ride home, or find somewhere to stay before you start drinking. The LAPD and LASD will be out in force looking for anyone showing signs of driving while intoxicated, and will not hesitate to arrest anyone they catch breaking the law. If you don’t choose to drink, you should still remember to keep a careful eye out while you’re on the road for those who do.
