Booking and Processing an Inmate at the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station

When someone has been arrested in any of the areas in and around the Santa Clarita Valley, they will be taken to the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station to undergo booking and processing.

The booking process can take anywhere from 4  hours or longer, depending on how busy the station is at the time.

During booking and processing, an arrestee will have their fingerprints recorded, a photograph taken and a national background check is conducted, also called “Livescan.” Once this process is complete, the inmate will be cleared for bail and likely be held at the SCV Sheriff Station for up to 72-hours.

The areas patrolled by Santa Clarita Sheriff Station deputies include: Valencia, Saugus, Canyon Country, Newhall, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, Acton, Westridge, Agua Dulce, Fair Oaks Ranch, Val Verde, Neenach, Bouquet Canyon, Hasley Canyon, Sunset Point, Tesoro Del Valle, West Hills, Magic Mountain, Mint Canyon and Gorman.

If you are unsure whether or not an inmate was arrested by the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station deputies, you can always call one of our 24 hour agents. we’re more than happy to answer any of your questions. You may also use the LASD Inmate Locator to locate where they are.

The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station has 11 jail cells and is capable of temporarily housing up to 40 inmates.

Inmate Phone Calls

California Penal Code §851.5 establishes the right of an arrestee to make at least three free local phone calls upon being booked. Inmates are allowed to make recorded, collect phone calls from the monitored jail facility phone, however they cannot receive any incoming calls or messages. It is possible a clergy member, attorney or a bail bondsman may visit them at anytime.

If you happen to receive a call from “Global Tel Link” which is a 713 area code phone number, it is likely your friend or loved one is calling you from custody. When you answer, you will be guided through automated prompts to connect to them.

When you call us, we can let you know if they’ve been booked into the system, what their charges are and if bail has been set for them. Then, we can provide you their booking number and other pertinent details.

Transfer Information From Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station

The on-site jail at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station is small, and only designed for the short-term housing of inmates. As such, if an inmate is not bailed out after a period of 48-72 hours (or sooner, if the jail gets overcrowded), they will be transferred to one of two larger facilities. Men are typically sent to  Twin Towers Correctional Facility, women are transferred to CRDF – Lynwood Jail.

Twin Towers and Lynwood Jails are much, much larger and busier jail than the one located at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station, and as such, the jail allows for the scheduling of visitations up to 7-days in advance.
