The city of Acton doesn’t have a police department or jail of their own, so they contract with the Palmdale Sheriff Station to meet their law enforcement needs.

The jail at the Palmdale Station is small, so if bail isn’t posted within 24 hours of an individual’s arrest, they will be transferred to one of the larger facilities in downtown Los Angeles like Twin Towers, Men’s Central or the Lynwood Jail (if the inmate is a female). These larger facilities are usually pretty backed up, and it can easily take an additional 24 hours to get someone bailed out once they have been transferred.

Booking and Processing

When someone is arrested, they are taken to the police or Sheriff station to undergo the procedure known as booking and processing. This is where fingerprints and photographs are taken, and a national background check is conducted. Once this process has been completed, bail will be set (for those who are eligible) as per the Los Angeles County Bail Schedule.

Options for Release

Crimes have varying degrees of severity, and as a result there are a few options for release that an arrestee may be eligible for. Those options include O.R. (own recognizance), cited out, cash bonds, property bonds and, of course, bail bonds. Once you find out a friend or loved one has been arrested, it’s important to locate that individual within the system to ensure that they are still in custody in order to get the bail bond process rolling.

Bail Bond Process

It all starts by giving us a call and providing the defendant’s full name, birth date and date and time of arrest. With this information, we will be able to locate him or her within the system and verify that they are eligible for bail.

Once this has been done, it’s a simple matter of filling out a few quick, easy bail bond application forms and an indemnitor agreement. After that, we will dispatch one of our agents to the jail and your friend or loved one will be released a few hours later.

For those who are out of the area, or would just prefer to do so, the entire process can be completed start to finish via phone, fax or email.
