The LAPD officers working out of the El Monte Substation meet the law enforcement needs of the community. Although the El Monte station is a substation, the officers there proudly boast state-of-the-art equipment in the identification of prisoners.
When someone is arrested in or around El Monte, they will likely be taken to the El Monte police station to undergo booking and processing. That’s the procedure in which the arrestee will have their photograph taken, fingerprints recorded and a national background check conducted. Once complete, bail will be set and it will be possible to be released via bail bond.
If an inmate is not bailed out quickly enough, then he or she will likely be sent to one of the larger jails in downtown Los Angeles. Men are transferred to Twin Towers, and women are sent to the Lynwood Jail. When transferred, an inmate can expect to spend another 24 hours in custody as they are “processed in” to the new facility. The El Monte Station is open 24 hours, though, and it’s possible to be bailed out directly from there. As such, getting the bail bond process started as quickly as possible is usually best.
Options for Release
A bail bond isn’t the only way to get an inmate out of jail. There are a few other options for release that he or she may be eligible for, such as
- Cash Bonds – When bail is set, it’s possible to pay the full amount of bail to the court clerk in order to be released from jail.
- Property Bonds – If cash is not available, property can sometimes be used in lieu of currency to get someone out of jail. The property must have equity of at least 150% of the total bail amount to be eligible, though, and property bonds can take a significant amount of time to process.
- Own Recognizance – Also known as “O.R.,” when an arrestee is released on their own recognizance it usually includes them providing a written promise to return to court at the appointed date and time.
- Cited Out – Being “cited out” is usually reserved for minor traffic violations and infractions. To be “cited out” means that the arrestee is given a ticket with a date and time to appear before the court and is thereafter otherwise left alone by the police.
Why Use a Bail Bondsman?
While there are several ways to be released from police custody, property bonds can take days, even weeks to process because of all the red-tape, cash bonds can be expensive, and not everyone is eligible for O.R. or being cited out. As such, bail bonds are by and large the most popular method to get someone out of jail. As previously stated, bail can be expensive, and the court isn’t interested in I.O.U.’s or payment plans. When you work with a bail bondsman, though, you are only responsible for paying a fraction of the full bail amount.
Bail by Fax or Email
The bail bond process is pretty simple. It starts by calling us and providing the full name, birth date and date and time of arrest of the inmate you’re looking to bail out. If not all of this information is available to you – don’t worry about it! We can still help you out. Once he or she has been located within the system, you must fill out some short, simple bail bond application forms and the indemnitor’s agreement. While the forms are pretty straight-forward, we’re always more than happy to go over them with you and answer any questions you may have. Lastly, once the forms are filled out and the indemnitor’s agreement is signed, we will dispatch one of our agents to the jail and your friend or loved one will be released a short time later.
As a matter of fact, our dedication to ease and simplicity reaches such an extent that you don’t even have to meet with us to do this. The entire bail bond application process can be completed from start to finish via phone, fax or email.
