Officers working out of the Devonshire Community Police Station are responsible for providing law enforcement in Chatsworth. When someone is arrested in the area, they are taken to the Devonshire Community Police Station where they will undergo booking and processing. This procedure includes having the arrestee’s photograph taken, fingerprints recorded and a national background check conducted. Once complete, bail will be set for those who are eligible and it will be possible to obtain their release via bail bond.

If they are not bailed out within 72 hours, or if the on-site jail gets overcrowded, male inmates will be transferred to Van Nuys Jail and women will be sent to the Lynwood Jail or the Van Nuys Jail. The transfer process can take up to 24 hours to complete, and during this period inmates will not be eligible for bail. However, if the bail bond process is begin while the inmate is still located at the Devonshire Community Police Station, transfer can often be avoided altogether.

The Bail Bond Process

The bail bond process is probably a lot easier than you may think. First, give us a call and provide us with some general information about the person you want to bail out of jail. We will use their name, birth date and the date and time of their arrest to locate them within the jail system and verify their eligibility for bail. We will then have you fill out the bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. All of our forms are simple and to the point, but if you have any questions we’re always happy to go over them with you. Once everything has been filled out, we provide you with a receipt and send an agent to the jail to post the bond. Your friend or loved one will then be released as soon as they are processed out.

If you can’t meet with us in person, we can always handle the bail bond process via phone, fax or email.

What is an Indemnitor?

The indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond. When someone is bailed out of jail, they are still required to attend all of their court dates. If they do so, the bond is exonerated. If they do not, then the person that signed the bail bond will be held financially responsible for paying the full amount of bail to the court. That being said, only bail out someone whom you know and trust.
