The Gardena Police Station is staffed by 115 full-time employees, 91 of whom being sworn officers. The station and jail aren’t very large, so when someone is arrested and brought in for booking and processing, it doesn’t typically take very long. Once the booking and processing procedure is complete, bail is set for those who are eligible and a bail bond or other method of release may be obtained.
Due to the small size of the on-site holding facility, those who do not obtain bail bonds quickly enough will usually be transferred to one of the larger downtown jails. Men are typically sent to Twin Towers Correctional Facility and women are transferred to the Lynwood Jail. When transfer occurs, it can easily add an additional 24 hours to an inmate’s time in custody as he or she must be “processed in” at the new facility. If the bail bond application process is begun quick enough, though, the transfer can often be avoided entirely.
Booking and Processing
Booking and processing is the procedure that takes place shortly after an arrestee arrives at the police station. It involves taking an arrestee’s fingerprints and photographs, as well as conducting a comprehensive national background check. Once all of these things are complete, bail is set as per the LA County Bail Schedule for those who are eligible.
Bail Process
When you call and provide us with the name, birth date and date and time of arrest of your friend or loved one, we can quickly locate him or her within the system and verify their eligibility for bail. Once eligibility has been established, it will be a matter of filling out and signing the bail bond application forms and indemnitor agreement. The forms are short and simple, but we’re more than happy to go over them with you if you have any questions.
The bail bond application process can be completed just about anywhere, including our office, your home (or office), at the jail, or even via phone, fax or email.
