Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility is administrated by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. It was originally built in 1920 and known as the “Industrial Road Camp.” During this era, prison gangs would work for the county Sheriff doing all sorts of physical labor as they served their time. In 2002, it was named after retired Sheriff Larry D. Smith and currently houses over 600 beds.

The location in Riverside County where an individual is arrested in will determine which of the Riverside County Jails he or she is taken to.

Visiting Hours

There are many housing units at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and visitation days and times will depend on which of these units an inmate is located in. The jail website has a full table detailing the visitation schedule and should be viewed if you’re thinking of visiting an inmate.

If you wish to make a visiting appointment at the jail, call 951-922-7540 at least 24 hours before you intend to visit an inmate.

The Arrest and Booking Process

Once arrested, inmates are taken to the police or sheriff station for booking and processing, a procedure in which photographs and fingerprints are taken, and a background check is conducted.

Once completed, bail will be posted for inmates who are eligible as per the County Bail Schedule. After bail has been set, an inmate is eligible for release via bail bond.

If no bail is posted soon after arrest, inmates are sometimes transferred to larger jail facilities where they must undergo booking and processing all over again. This usually adds anywhere from 12-24 hours to their time in custody, if not longer.

How to Begin The Bail Process

To begin, contact us and speak live with a friendly, knowledgeable bail bondsman. It will be helpful if you have some information available beforehand, such as the inmate’s full name, birth date and date and time of arrest. If not all of this information is readily available, that’s okay! We can still help you out.

Once the inmate has been located and their eligibility for bail has been verified, we will need you to fill out and sign the bail bond application forms. They’re pretty simple and straight forward, but we have no problem walking you through them and answering any questions you may have.

Thanks to modern technology, the entire bail bond application process can be completed via phone, fax or email. No more face to face meetings with bail bondsmen are required, though we’re happy to meet you either at our office, the jail or at your home if you prefer.
