Carson Police Station and Jail Information
Read more information on the Carson Station Jail
Carson doesn’t have its own police force, so it contracts with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in order to fulfill its law enforcement needs. The LASD deputies operating out of the Carson Station don’t just patrol the city of Carson; they also provide law enforcement services some of the unincorporated areas surrounding Gardena, Torrence and Rancho Dominguez as well as CSU and the UCLA/Harbor Hospital.
When individuals are arrested in Carson, they’re taken to the Carson Sheriff Station where they are booked and processed into the system. Depending on how busy the jail is, it can take 2-6 hours for this procedure to be completed. After that, bail will be set for eligible inmates.
Booking and Processing
The booking and processing procedure is where photographs and fingerprints of an arrestee are taken, and a national background check is conducted. The fingerprints and photographs are necessary both for the records of the police department as well as for the background check. Provided an inmate does not have any circumstances surrounding him or her that would put the public’s safety in question, were the inmate to be released, bail will be set as per the Los Angeles County bail schedule.
