Most people arrested in Orange County are booked into Orange County Central Jail Complex, (OJC), but depending on how crowded it is and the location of the arrest, some detainees are taken to the Theo Lacy Jail Facility instead.

The Theo Lacy Jail Facility opened its doors in 1960 and today can hold up to 2000 prisoners and is one of the largest correctional facilities in Orange County.

Many of the inmates held here are only temporary residents, awaiting resolution of a court case. Others have already been sentenced by a judge and are serving out their time. As such, not all of the inmates present at this facility are eligible for bail.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours at the Theo Lacy Facility are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Inmates are allowed to have one 30-minute visit per day by a maximum of 2 adults and 1 child under the age of 5. If a minor wishes to visit an inmate at Theo Lacy without an adult supervisor, they must be a direct blood relative.
