Once an individual is arrested in Kern County, they will be taken to one of the small local police departments for booking and processing. This is the procedure in which fingerprints and photographs are taken and a background check is conducted. Once complete, bail will be set for inmates who are eligible.

In order to get your friend or loved one out of jail as quickly as possible, it is best to bail them out from one of the smaller facilities shortly after their arrest. If bail is not obtained quickly, inmates are often transferred to one of the larger facilities and must undergo another round of booking and processing which takes much longer.

How Long Does the Bail Process Take?

The length of the bail process will depend on severaldifferent factors including, but not limited to, how busy the jail is, if the defendant has any priors, whether or not the defendant is a US citizen.

In order to get your friend or loved one out of jail quickly, it is advisable to begin the bail bond application process as close to the time they are arrested as possible. Once booking and processing is complete and bail is set, it is possible that they will be transferred to a larger facility where additional processing will take place and their time in custody can be considerably lengthened.

In order to ensure a speedy aplication process, one of our bail agents can meet you at the jail, your home or office, or we can even send the bail application forms to you via fax or email.

How Bail is Set

Bail is set by a Judge as per the County Bail Scheduledepending on the number and severity of the crime(s) committed. The Judge must also take into account public safety and prior offenses when issuing a bail amount.
